Costumes

Well, Austin and I (really just Austin) decided not to do the whole ninja thing. Mostly because for our ward Halloween party everyone had to dress up as famous couples. As easy as that seems, it took us quite a while to come up with some good ideas that we both liked. Austin wanted to dress up with a pitchfork fork and be that one old picture.

I know, I know.... such a likeness of me and Austin, right? But I still said no. And teased him for his suggestion. Now that I think of it, it might have been really funny. Probably not though.

I thought we should just put a piece of paper on each of us saying "1 minute" and then we would be "a couple of minutes". Austin just laughed at me.

So we decided on Robin Hood and Maid Marian

We decided to do these costumes the day of the Halloween Party. We had to do some quick thinking and preparation. We ended up going to the DI and Walmart to get my costume. Please note the "boots" first. We just picked up a little fabric from Walmart and Mindy sewed some thingies for my legs. The shoes were just my brown church shoes. It turned out a lot better than either of us expected. Then we bought two shirts and cut the sleeves off of one. The hat.......I'm kind of ashamed to say that I made that thing. I didn't measure or anything, I just started cutting. I was really lucky that it turned out. I wish you could see my sweet bow and arrows in the picture. It was a little kids bow and arrow set with the suction cups as tips. lol
Mindy's costume looked great! We just picked it up at K-mart for 50% off. At the halloween party there were all kinds of games. One was a word game where we all had letters on our backs and we had to make words as fast as we could. There was also a cow milking contest. It was really fun to watch, but we didn't get to try it out. We had a lot of fun and ended up getting 8 Reese's candy bars(not the fun size ones, which ironically are not as fun as the bigger ones, but the full size ones!) and 1 Hershey bar. I would call that a success!!!!

Whelp, halloween...

Halloween is coming and the only decoration we have in our home is a pumpkin that we were going to carve and make into a scary face.... we just haven't quite gotten to it yet.

However, we have decided on our costumes (although we still have no Halloween party to show them off at yet). We are going to be ninjas, which works out because Austin (conveniently) already owns a ninja sword. Which reminds me, if you get a chance to look at the ninja cat video posted on the side, you should. Austin and I watched it at least three times in a row and could not stop laughing.

So, even though we don't have much to show in our house this year for Halloween, we have still gotten in the Halloween spirit by eating pumpkin seeds and lots of candy! Austin tried to hide the candy from me, but I found them after looking at the only two hiding spots he has :)

Well, if you have any suggestions of inexpensive decorations or treats I could make, I'm all ears!

Peace out till next time!

Camping!

Yeah... we went camping. Twas fun. Mostly we just went fishing even though neither of us like fish.

I played with the camera while Austin set up the tent! :)

I caught one and ate it, and it was gross. Here is the one we cooked.

That was the only fish I caught that day, but Austin got a pretty sweet catch too...

Projects

Well, we're new to this whole blogging thing. So, this will be our first attempt at a blogsite. Here goes!

Lately, we have just been working and working on little projects. Our first project was the under-the-bed dresser. When Dad gave it to us, it wasn't in that great of shape. But, we sanded it down and stained it a different color.

Here is the after picture of our couch that we reupholstered. It was in really rough shape, but was a really good price so we just picked out some fabric and stapled it everywhere to make it stay!

Our next project was a table. We rummaged through the scrap pile at work and found some extra wood flooring lying around that we thought would make a nice table. So, we brought it home and got to it.

Here is the underside of the table. We have limited tools, but we just had to make do. I had to buy a saw and sander though. The screw gun was a gift from our wedding.

Oh yeah, if you notice.....we made this pretty much all in our apartment. Here is a picture of the table before we took it out to stain it.

Finally! The finished project. All in all the time to make this table wasn't bad. It took about two days. With the limited tools and space we have I don't think it turned out too bad. Just to be funny, we decided to put it on craigslist.com for sale to see if we got any responses. We aren't planning on selling it. We're just curious.

Well, that's all for now!!!
